The Full Story

Launching in 2025, Wildfire Spice Co. began with a simple idea:

Give the outdoor industry something it didn’t have — but desperately needed.

Create a product without creating waste.

Put something good into the world, and have a damn good time doing it.

And most importantly, make an excuse to get outside more.

It all started after our founder, Spencer Brown, backpacked the Skye Trail in Scotland. Around a campfire, fueled by Rainiers and good conversation, a friend gave him the final push on an idea they'd tossed around for years: powdered hot sauce for backpacking.
"It's a good idea, man. Just do it."
That was all it took. Within a month of launching, Wildfire Spice Co. was in 11 stores across 6 states.

Spencer’s hot sauce obsession started early — ever since a legendary 3rd grade hot sauce chugging contest. Years later, helping a friend sell hot sauce in Kansas City showed him the ropes. Making his own sauces for friends showed him the fun. But it wasn’t until a week on trail with flavorless, soul-crushing dehydrated meals that he realized something was missing from the outdoor world.

The world didn’t need more hot sauce. It needed the right kind — ultralight, low-waste, and made for the backcountry.

So that’s what we made.
